No matter who you are or what industry you\u2019re in, it\u2019s important to set goals for your career. Career goals keep us moving forward, prevent us from getting stuck or stagnant, and give us something bigger than ourselves to work toward.\n <\/p>\n

In fact, one of my favorite Scriptures is \u201cI press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus\u201d (Philippians 3:14 NIV). But Christian or not, it\u2019s a natural human tendency to want the satisfaction that comes from working for something and eventually succeeding\u2014and we do that by setting good goals.\n <\/p>\n

So here are my top tips for setting and achieving goals that will take your career to the next level!\n <\/p>\n

What Are Career Goals?\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Career goals are short, simple statements that describe how you plan to grow and move forward in your career. They act as a measure of what you plan to achieve\u2014kind of like a promise to yourself.<\/strong>\n <\/p>\n

These career goals are just like any other goal you\u2019d set in life for your fitness or finances, but they\u2019ll help you get from where you are now to where you want to be in a year, five years, 10 years, and beyond, specifically in your work. The great thing about goals is you<\/em> call the shots! You get to decide what you want your future to look like and then work toward making that vision a reality.\n <\/p>\n

Examples of Career Goals\u00a0<\/h2>\n

You might already have an idea of what you want your career to look like long term, and that\u2019s great. It\u2019s important to think about the big picture of your life and what kind of job would be a \u201cdream job\u201d for you in the future, which can inform the shorter-term goals you set. Or you might have no idea where you want to go in your career, and that\u2019s okay too. The goal-setting process can help you get specific and figure that out.\n <\/p>\n

The idea of setting big goals might seem overwhelming, but don\u2019t let it stress you out\u2014you can break down those goals into more achievable tasks for the short term and the long term.\n <\/p>\n
